Microsoft today announced a change in the way that people find additional tools for its Power BI business-intelligence (BI) app.

Rather than going to Power BI’s existing gallery for custom data visualizations, which includes those from third-party developers, Microsoft has started directing people to a new area in the Office Store.

Microsoft launched its Power BI custom visuals gallery in 2015, when it became generally available as a freemium service, Microsoft Power BI program manager Tzvi Keisar wrote in a blog post. Currently Microsoft is in the process of migrating existing visuals from the gallery to the Office Store, Keisar wrote.

In the Office Store, you can sort visuals by category, watch videos for visuals before downloading, and see ratings and reviews. Developers can collect user feedback and check metrics. Plus, there are more users in the Office Store, Keisar wrote.

The gallery will be retired on April 30, a Microsoft spokesperson told VentureBeat in an email. Custom visuals will keep working after the gallery goes away.

Power BI competes with Tableau, Qlik, and Salesforce Analytics Cloud, among other things.
