Nioh brings its punishing samurai-vs-monsters action to PC on November 7

Koei Tecmo announced today that the action role-playing game Nioh is coming to PC via Steam on November 7. It will release as Nioh: Complete Edition and include all three downloadable expansions.

Nioh came out for the PlayStation 4 on February 7. It was a hit that shipped over a million copies. Critics embraced it, and its Metacritic score sits at an average of 88. Expanding to the PC market could open it up to a new audience and drive further sales — Japanese publishers have realized a strong market exists on Steam and other digital stores.

Nioh: Complete Edition will feature two different settings. Action Mode will have a steady 60fps frame rate, while Movie Mode will support 4K resolutions. Normally, you expect such specific graphics settings from a console game. PC titles usually have more options and flexibility depending on the player’s hardware. We asked Koei Tecmo if Nioh on PC will have more graphics options than these two modes and if players with powerful enough hardware can run the game at 4k and 60fps. We’ll update this story if it responds.

Team Ninja, the studio behind Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive, made Nioh.

“Blending a compelling narrative loosely based on the tale of the English navigation officer who served Ieyasu Tokugawa, William Adams, with a myriad of strange supernatural creatures from Japanese folklore (Yokai), players of Nioh: Complete Edition will discover a diverse and comprehensive world dripping with history and lore, and face off against other samurai in epic sword battles and intense, multi-target engagements,” Koei Tecmo explained in a press release send to GamesBeat.

Correction, 8:31 a.m.: Nioh came out in February, not November as we first reported. GamesBeat regrets the error.
