Presented by SevenVentures
Launching into a new market can be a scary decision for any company. Deciding if, when, and how to take the leap can strike fear into the heart of the most ambitious CEO.
Regulatory complexities, lack of local marketing knowledge, and limited funding opportunities all play their part in slowing down a company’s first steps across the border.
This is why SevenVentures, the world’s leading TV media investor and an investment arm of Europe’s largest broadcaster ProSiebenSat.1 Group, is proud to announce its 7th annual SevenVentures Pitch Day (7VPD). The aim of the startup competition is to offer a helping hand to young companies with unique physical products in their expansion by supporting them with media budget and know-how.
7VPD will take place at the DLD conference in Berlin on October 26th where four finalists will present their concepts to a jury of industry experts, leading influencers, and media personalities.
One lucky winning startup will scoop €3 million in TV advertising, €200k in online advertising, €40k for the creation of their own TV spot and support from a leading German lifestyle and fitness influencer — an unprecedented opportunity for any company looking to take that first step into a new European market.
SevenVentures aims to create the next generation of market leaders by helping growth companies scale quickly using TV advertising.
Who can apply?
According to Forbes Magazine, the SevenVentures Pitch Day is one of the most important startup events in the world. The competition is aimed at the most innovative and creative companies in the B2C space who have a unique physical product, want to scale quickly, and are at the right stage of development to benefit from TV advertising power.
Apply for 7VPD by October 8th, 2017 for a chance to win over €3 million in advertising budget.
7VPD Jury 2017
7VPD always attracts a jury of industry experts, and this year is no exception:
Joko Winterscheidt is one of Germany’s most famous and best-loved TV presenters. Working together with his partner in crime Klaas Heufer-Umlauf on ProSieben hits like “Joko gegen Klaas – das Duell um die Welt” and “Circus Halligalli”, he has revolutionized the German TV landscape.Joko has a long-standing passion for investing in startups, most notably SMS service GoButler, premium sock startup Von Jungfeld and production company Creative Cosmos 15 with friend and actor Matthias Schweighöfer.
Florian Pauthner has recently been appointed CEO of SevenVentures but enjoys a longstanding career as an investment expert as former SevenVentures’ CFO, in M&A for one of the biggest financial institutions in Northern Europe, and at a leading management consultancy.
Our 7VPD Audience comprising business executives, creative and social leaders, opinion formers, and investors from the DLD Conference will have the third vote on our jury.
Accompanying presenter Steven Gätjen throughout the programme and advising the finalists will be leading German lifestyle influencer Sophia Thiel. As an overweight teenager, Sophia adopted a rigorous fitness regime and lost 25 kilos. By documenting her journey on social media, she now enjoys a major career as a digital marketing star boasting over 1.2 million followers on Instagram and 1.3 million fans on Facebook.
Wait, wasn’t there a SevenVentures Satellite Pitch Day in New York this year?
Correct. And the lucky winner was US cold coffee startup Risebrewing.Co. They will be competing as one of the finalists at the main event in Berlin in October. In recent years, the competition has intentionally focused on founders and consumer startups outside of Germany looking to break into or grow in the DACH market. But German companies are of course welcome to apply too.
Germany is hot right now
Germany is a great market for international companies. With more than 40 million financially solvent households and a gross domestic product (GDP) of €3.8 billion, Germany represents just under one third of the total economic performance of the EU. From a launchpad in Germany, companies can also easily reach out into Austria, Switzerland, and beyond. A local partner like SevenVentures can help international companies navigate these unchartered territories.
The DLD Conference brings the tech industry to Berlin on October 26th
The Economist described it as “the most influential tech conference in Europe”. DLD (Digital Life Design) explores how the digital age fundamentally changes our life, societies, and business. The DLD is a network of conferences held in the most exciting locations worldwide throughout the year. This year the conference is coming to Berlin on October 26th and 27th, 2017 and it will be the third year that 7VPD is featured at this unique event.
Florian Pauthner is CEO of SevenVentures and enjoys a longstanding career as both an investment expert as former SevenVentures’ CFO and in M&A for one of the biggest financial institutions in Northern Europe as well as at a leading management consultancy.
