Rocket League will race to Nintendo Switch on November 14

Psyonix’s megahit Rocket League will debut on the Nintendo Switch just in time for the holidays. It will be available on November 14 for $20.

The Switch version of the soccer-with-cars arena battler will roll out with exclusive vehicles based on iconic Nintendo characters Mario and Luigi as well as Metroid‘s Samus. It will also get similarly themed “toppers,” which are hats that players can use to decorate their cars.

Rocket League has been hugely popular, garnering over 33 million players on the PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. It also has a burgeoning esports scene that attracts a wide audience because of its easy accessibility. Players compete against each other in matches that range from heads-up 1-vs.-1 up to 4-vs.-4, jostling to see who can knock a giant soccer ball into the other team’s goal.

The Switch has been a boon for Nintendo, driving 175 percent sales growth in half a year. It boasts a number of competitive games so far, such as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Splatoon 2, along with local co-op games such as Ghost Town Games’ Overcooked. While playing locally works perfectly fine, setting up online multiplayer matches can be tricky. Online multiplayer uses Nintendo Switch Online app has drawn criticism for its unintuitive interface and how difficult it is to use.
